Meet the Team

Behind the Scenes

About us

The Cellar Door is a venture from chefs Daniel Teage and Charlie Ramsdale. Following on from the success of their restaurant at the iconic Sharpham vineyard, they are now focusing on event catering, private dining and pop up restaurants, primarily within the south hams.

Dan & Charlie

 Dan & Charlie

Dan and Charlie took over the Al Fresco restaurant at Sharpham in 2018, their first joint project after working together for several years.

After the restaurants unfortunate closure at the end of 2021, due to the relocation of the vineyard, the team decided to step back and focus their energies on bespoke event catering, in order to achieve a better work life balance and spend more time with their young son.

They share a love of produce-driven, seasonal food, and being involved in every stage of production – from field to fork.

They live together on their smallholding with Charlie’s mum, their six year old son, two dogs, four sheep, two pigs and two ducks.

Harry

Front of House Manager

This will be Harry’s third season at The Cellar Door. He loves working outdoors, surrounded by great food and wine. A keen sportsman, Harry is captain of the local cricket team, and even manufactures his own cricket bats. He enjoys cooking, and sharing his summers with other passionate and likeminded individuals.

Luna

Assistant Manager

Luna has been in hospitality for a good portion of her adult life, and thrives on seamless service and a vibrant and energetic team. No stranger to being busy, she is currently studying linguistics at university alongside her responsibilities at Sharpham. A true asset to any workforce.

Owain

Head Chef

His second season at The Cellar Door, Owain returns this year as head chef. Since growing up in Totnes, and gracing professional kitchens from a young age, he spent the next 14 years in high end kitchens in London, Switzerland and around the globe. His attention to detail is second to none, and with a work ethic to match, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Sam

Sous Chef

Sam has spent 9 summers at Sharpham, whilst wintering in the french Alps, and is as skilled in the kitchen as he is up a mountain or on the football pitch. Sam is the unquestionable backbone of the kitchen team, and it’s hard to imagine The Cellar Door without him.
